This is a very comprehensive website which also provides up to date travel information on roads. It includes the facility to compare journey times by transport mode.
National Rail Enquiries

The Man In Seat 61

This site provides information about how to travel by train (or ship) from the UK to any other country in Europe, and beyond.
AA Route Planner

A comprehensive route planner that enables you to enter your start, end and via locations, as well as options to avoid motorways, caravan routes and toll roads.
RAC Route Planner

Very similar to the AA Route Planner above but with the added bonus of advanced interactive mapping.
Streetmap

Useful for finding the location of an address either by postcode or the address itself. Offers maps of varying scales.
Multimap

Similar to Streetmap but with more search options and also searches of europe and further afield.
